ABSTRACT
In India, rail transportation is one of the major transportations for traveling from one place to another and for transportation of goods. Indian railway contributes significantly to the country's GDP. But there are so many dangerous rail accidents that are happening in India due to derailments caused by the crack of the rail line. Hence it is necessity to maintain the good track without any defaults. So Indian railway department appoints many labours to find and repair the cracks and discontinuity through manually. Here the labors cost is more, it may take more time and also, it’s not accurate. To overcome this an automated crack and object detection robot car is made by using ARDUINO development board along with NodeMCU ESP8266 Wi-Fi module that detect cracks and objects. The ultrasonic sensors and IR sensors will collect the signals whether a crack or object is present and send to the ARDUINO and robot will stop immediately. Simultaneously the information is sent to operator through IoT by uploading data in ThingSpeak platform. So, it is possible to take immediate action to repair the track. So, it helps the railway department to maintain the good condition of track with low cost.
